Diary Management - Top Tips Only a Virtual Assistant Would Know!

Keeping on top of a busy diary can be time-consuming and mind-boggling, but it doesn't need to be. I absolutely love organising diaries, so here are five quick tips on how to manage yours better.

Colour code your events

A busy diary can be overwhelming so use colour coding to help your brain process your week’s schedule at a glance.

Block time out for work

Diaries can easily become full of meetings, leaving you with little time to complete your own important tasks. Block time out at the start of the week so however busy you get, you’re guaranteed time to do the things that need doing.

Schedule buffers

Schedule in time between meetings to allow for travel, preparation, and overrunning. Don’t cram in meetings back to back, allow for flexibility with a realistic buffer in between.

Only use one diary

Use one diary for both personal and professional appointments. If you have multiple diaries you can sync them to avoid checking multiple accounts.

Plan and review

Throughout the week check what you have planned for the weeks ahead. This will help to avoid double booking and gives you the opportunity to block out the time needed for any prep.
